It’s the biggest question on the minds of the Cardinals for the 2009 season; Chris Carpenter’s condition. It certainly was a question that came up again and again recently when Carpenter addressed a group. Carpenter came back with the same answer time and again too; which was that he feels normal.

Heading to Spring Training in a few weeks, Carpenter doesn’t think he’s in rehabilitation but that he’s making preparation not just for Spring Training but for an appearance in the rotation in the season’s first week. “I’m feeling good,” he said. “The doctor cleared me to throw a few weeks ago and I started playing catch. My elbow feels great and my shoulder is getting stronger each time I go out and throw. It feels like a normal January. ”

Carpenter is speaking from the experience of dealing with two different issues with his pitching arm. A nerve injury in his right shoulder forced Carpenter to pull out of the 2008 season in September. He subsequently underwent nerve transposition surgery on his right elbow in November.

January and February tend to be the time for bold proclamations but Carpenter isn’t the type to offer unfounded optimism or offer idle boasts. “I think when he says he feels that way, that’s how he feels,” said Tony LaRussa, manager. “And he’s a veteran of feeling good and not feeling good. We’re optimistic and that’s exciting. ”

With Carpenter at the top of his game, it means the Cardinals are a force to be reckoned with. To give an indication of the impact of Carpenter’s feel good or feel bad scenario, the Cardinals are waiting to gauge Carpenter’s progress before they determine the next building block of the 2009 roster.

Although there are no guarantees that the roster will stand still in the interim, general manager John Mozeliak indicated recently that the outcome of Carpenter’s scenario will most likely dictation some subsequent decisions. “We want to see where Carpenter is in the equation. I can’t rule out a few other things that may happen. But I would hate for anybody to capture it as if this was an end-all. That wouldn’t be necessarily fair. ”

Carpenter, LaRussa and Mozeliak know it’s not an end all but all three also know there’s nothing bigger on the Cardinals’ plate right now. Carpenter believes that taking it one game at a time, like he’s done in the past, is an important part of preparing himself to get out and pitch.

“I feel like it’s a regular winter”, he said. “It might be different in a month from now when I get off the mound. But right now I feel like it’s a normal off season. ” Carpenter added that his should feels good and that he has no issues with it.

The overall sentiment is that a healed Carpenter that’s pitching is what everyone wants, including Carpenter himself. “I’m preparing myself like I’m going to pitch. ”

It’s not news, well, it is news but no new news that there’s still arbitration going on in the Toronto Blue Jays camp again this year. Although the last 10 or 12 years have been the scene of arbitration between the Blue Jays and the powers that be, one can hope that, as in the past that Toronto will come up with a way to dodge the court rooms as they have done before.

Currently there are six Blue Jays who have made arbitration filings in time of the recent deadline. This means Toronto will be exchanging figures with those who have filed soon. If resolution can’t be reached in time, arbitration hearings will begin on February 1 and could last all the way through February 21, guaranteeing a cut into this year’s Spring Training, which will be held in Dunedin, Florida.

Should arbitration hearings become necessary, a panel will be elected to select from the suggested contracts for this upcoming season. Jason Frasor, Brandon League, Jeremy Accardo, Shawn Camp, Brian Tallet and Jose Bautista are all eligible for arbitration this year. Thirty-one year old Frasor is starting his sixth season with the Blue Jays and thanks to last year’s arbitration, he earned $1. 125 million.

Accardo, on the other hand, is a newcomer to arbitration and attained eligibility for the first time this year. Accardo played 16 games and then went out back in May from a strain to his right forearm. Bautista may be in a class by himself when it comes to arbitration. Originally acquired in exchange for Robinzon Diaz last season, Bautista has filed for arbitration after being paid $1. 8 million last year. Bautista, unlike the other filers, is capable of playing multiple positions7 both in the outfield and infield.

Scott Moore, head of CBC Sports, recently revealed that the cost of television rights and the decrease in revenue are the reasons that CBC will be leaving their agreement with the Blue Jays, which expired in 2008.

We see the prima donna Carlotta at a rehearsal for the opera, Hannibal, when suddenly a backdrop falls, nearly killing her. There are cries of “It’s the Phantom” and she refuses to sing after that. Christine is then asked to perform by her friend who is the ballet teacher’s daughter. Raoul sees her there and recognizes her as his childhood friend. He wishes to take her for dinner but she refuses saying her music teacher will not permit it. After that we discover that her music teacher is the Phantom himself who is obsessed with her.

The rest of the story progresses with her love for Raoul blossoming and the phantom’s rage at that. In the end, Christine is kidnapped by the Phantom who asks her to stay with him forever or he would kill Raoul. Her decision brings with it the end of the story of the Phantom of the Opera.

The musical is directed by Harold Prince with haunting and unforgettable music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber who also wrote the script. The cast includes Howard McGillin as the Phantom, Jennifer Hope Wills as Christine and Michael Shawn Lewis as Raoul. The Grand National Meeting is a famous National Hunt horse race which is held at Aintree in England. The Grand National Meeting is a handicap chase run over a distance of about 4 miles and 856 yard. Four Year Strong is an American pop punk band from Worcester, Massachusetts, formed in 2001. The band’s sound can be described as a blend of pop punk, Hardcore punk, and power pop. Four Year Strong have released three studio albums with the latest, Enemy of the World, released on March 9, 2010. The band was originally named A Four Year Strong. After the departure of the original bassist, two or three years after their initial formation, the band met Joe Weiss, eventually asking him to fill the position as the band’s bassist. Four Year Strong’s earlier songs did not feature keyboards or synthesizers, but the instruments were incorporated eventually. The band cycled through many keyboardists, recruiting their current keyboardist Josh Lyford in late 2006. The band’s debut album, It’s Our Time was released on January 29, 2005.

During earlier talks where Bill Bavasi was the general manager, Fields was offered $1. 5 million but his agent Scott Boras advised him to hold out for $2 million, which Fields did and that’s as far as it went. The Mariners have until late May to get Fields signed or Fields gets his Draft eligibility back and become available for the First-Year Player draft, to be held in June.

The Mariners anticipated that Field would take the fast track to the Major Leagues but thus far, that anticipation is unsatisfied and a very real possibility exists that Field may become the first unsigned No. 1 Draft choice since 2002 with John Mayberry.

“I don’t have an answer right now. We’ll go down that road and see how it works out,” Zduriencik said.

The Washington Nationals have had a rough couple of seasons recently, being consistently one of the worst teams in the NL East as well as the entire league.   But as the Nats struggle to compete with higher payrolls and teams with fan bases that have had a chance to build over time, they do have a potential ace in the hole, so to speak.   Recently drafted pitcher Stephen Strasburg has shown all the signs that he is the pitcher with the type of talent to save a flailing franchise, which is what the Nats were hoping when they signed him to a record contract after drafting him first overall just a short time ago.

As he continues to dazzle in the final weeks of Spring Training and intrasquad games, Strasburg brings with every fastball the possibility that the Nats have something to build around for the future.   When he does make his first regular season start for the Nats, Washington Nationals tickets will doubtlessly be the most sought-after in the short history of the franchise.

Strasburg has been widely touted as the best pitching prospect to come out of the amateur draft in years, perhaps ever.   This is nothing new, of course, as similar prognoses have surrounded pitchers like Mark Prior and Felix Hernandez recently as well.   Strasburg has handled the hype so far with striking poise, however, making a splash in Spring Training matchups and creating a buzz around the Nationals that hadn’t previously existed.   With a fastball that tops out at over 100 MPH, maybe it’s easier to handle what comes your way.

It isn’t just a blazing fastball that separates Strasburg from the rest of the pack, though, as he also has a bevy of other devastating pitches to choose from – something that any pitcher needs to have no matter how enamored scouts get with the radar gun.   According to Nationals’ pitching coaches, Strasburg also has a two-seam fastball that has enough movement to make it appear like a slider from a left-handed pitcher.   His changeup is also a great compliment to his fastball and some have even suggested that his slider is even more formidable than any of his other pitches.   While many pitchers get drafted high solely because of their freakish ability to throw the ball hard, it seems that Strasburg has other tools that could keep him among baseball’s very best pitchers for a long time.

Even with the incredible hype surrounding Strasburg, however, the Nats will keep him in on their Double-A team for the immediate future, with hopes of limiting the pressure that will eventually surround him when he does come up to the big club.   This comes despite whispers that Strasburg is already the best pitcher in the Nationals system, which actually shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise considering their overall talent level.   But don’t expect Strasburg to stay down in Double-A Harrisburg for very long as it’s unlikely that batters on the minor league level will be able to handle his explosive stuff.

Regardless of how long Strasburg stays in the minors, though, his arrival with the big club later this year will be among the most anticipated events on the Major League schedule, which is saying something for a team that finished with the worst record in the entire league a season ago.   The Nats certainly still have many other needs before they could be considered a viable contender, yet Strasburg’s starts will command national media attention even while they take place at the minor league level.   Considering the obscurity with which the Nationals have entered the last few seasons, such attention will certainly be welcomed by the franchise.   Strasburg may only be step one for the Nationals, but it certainly seems that he is a giant step in the right direction.

When I first took a shot at online marketing, I was both hugely optimistic and hugely sceptical. I was right to be both.

But don’t just sign up to the first high ticket item you come across. Make sure you research the company, as I did, and are happy with the guy who is going to be your online mentor. For me, that meant – at the very least – finding a mentor who would take my calls, reply to my emails when I got stuck.   And generally help me progress on a weekly basis.

Once you have found that mentor and the high ticket item, focus on a few set tasks, not numerous. That way you don’t become stir crazy from all the distractions on the net offering better systems and all kinds of clever tricks.

Then, when you’re set up – with at least a personal site and a lead capture – or squeeze – pagefor your high ticket product – you can start to develop your own brand.   You. Remember, you’re only going to make money when people approach you as an authority in online marketing.   A personable authority.

Frankly it’s the only way to cut through the noise and stand out. You don’t have to be SOMEONE – just BE YOURSELF. How so? Because people don’t join a system or a business opportunity, they join people. So if they find they have an affinity with you, they’re going to do business with you.

Football season, whether in the United States or northern neighbor Canada, is drawing closer. The first snap of the season will come from the Canadian Football League, as it kicks off months before the National Football League.  The CFL Preseason kicks off on June 13, with the regular season beginning on July 1. In preparation for the start of the season, teams are scrambling to solidify their rosters, and three teams found luck with a trio of contracts. Edmonton Eskimos:

The Edmonton Eskimos noticed holes on the offensive side of the ball and added import wide receiver Rudy Burgess, offensive lineman Clifford Louis and offensive lineman Jeremy Parquet. Burgess has yet to play in the CFL, but he has been listed on NFL rosters for teams like the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and Chicago Bears. Cliff Lewis also got his start in the NFL. He was picked up in 2007 by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent. He also had stints with the New York Giants and Jackson Jaguars as well as the United Football League’s Florida Tuskers.

Parquet had the most success of the three in the NFL, even getting a Super Bowl Ring for his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was picked in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Edmonton made it to the semifinals of last year’s playoffs, and they are surely hoping to go further this season.

Calgary Stampeders:

Opposite of the Eskimos, the Stampeders focused on defense and added linebacker Robert McCune, defensive end Kenny Mainor and linebacker Jae Thaxton. McCune was a fifth round selection in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. After two seasons with the Redskins, he spent one season with the Miami Dolphins and two with the Baltimore Ravens. Mainor’s experience comes from his years as a Sun Belt Conference all-star for Troy University. Thaxton made his mark on the football program at the competitive Florida State University. The Stampeders made it to the finals and are likely looking for a run at the championship in 2010.

Montreal Alouettes:

The Alouettes are coming off of an impressive 2009 season, winning the Grey Cup by topping the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a close 28-27 game. The team is looking for a repeat, adding offensive weapons wide receiver DJ Boldin, import running back Roosevelt Ross and non-import running back Eric Lee. Boldin went to training camp with the Detroit Lions last season and is also the brother of NFL wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Roosevelt Ross is coming off of a star season at the University of West Alabama. Lee is the only player with a history in the CFL, as he was with Edmonton for last season’s training camp. The Edmonton Eskimos picked Lee in the fifth round of the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft.

 

Only a few games into the new season, the New York Mets should be getting one of their premier players back into their lineup.   After missing most of spring training with a thyroid condition, the Mets’ star shortstop Jose Reyes played well in some extended spring training matchups recently, bringing him closer to returning to the lineup.   As of April 7th, he was all set to re-join the club as soon as his stint on the DL was over, which will give the Mets a tremendous boost in the early part of the season and help sell New York Mets tickets.

With Reyes returning, the Mets get back their sparkplug at the top of the lineup, which should help out an offense that was listless for much of the year in 2009.   In the first year at their new ballpark, Citi Field, Reyes was hampered with a hamstring injury and played in just 36 games.   Without Reyes leading off, the Mets had great difficulty scoring runs in 2009, as their top homerun hitter, David Wright, slugged just 10 round-trippers all season long and they lacked the speed to manufacture offense.   Ultimately, with a paltry offense and significant injuries to its pitching staff, the Mets had one of their worst seasons in recent memory, finishing fourth in the division and winning just 70 games.

Though many have speculated that Citi Field is too difficult for power hitters, it also works very well for Reyes’ talents due to its large power alleys and overall size.   Reyes is a top-tier base stealer who is always among the league leaders when he plays a full season and can turn a double into a triple as well as anyone in the league.   With such speed at the top of the lineup, it will also make it significantly easier for two-hitter Luis Castillo, not to mention for the run producers in the middle of the lineup.

In the NL East, the Mets can also use all the help that they can get.   The Philadelphia Phillies are already rumored to be the best team in the National League in years and the Atlanta Braves have plenty of pitching to make a run at either the division or a wildcard berth.   Even with a tremendous payroll, the Mets were already projected as the third or fourth best team in the division, though Reyes could certainly help to change that.

Another impact player who will doubtless have a tremendous impact this year is Johan Santana, who comes off of a nagging elbow injury from 2009.   Santana didn’t miss a beat to start the season, however, going six innings and picking up a win in his first outing of the year against the Florida Marlins on April 5th.   As he looks to re-establish himself as one of the most dominant pitchers in the league, Santana may just bring the Mets along for a playoff push in the process.

If the Mets could win 70 games a season ago with two of their best players out for much of the year and David Wright having a huge down power year, they should be able to do substantially better once they get all their pieces back onto the field.   Jason Bay was also a tremendous addition and will be a force in the middle of their lineup all season.   As long as Jose Reyes can get back on the field and stay healthy, he may just be the key to keeping the Mets in contention in one of the best divisions in baseball.

Michael Ryan Flatley (born 16 July 1958) is an Irish American step dancer, writer, flautist, choreographer and occasional television presenter who became internationally known through his theatre musicals, Riverdance, Lord of the Dance and Feet of Flames. Michael Flatley shot to fame during the interval of the Eurovision Song Contest 1994. Flatley is also a proficient flute player, having twice won the All-Ireland Competition. In dance, Flatley was taught by Dennis Dennehy at the Dennehy School of Irish Dance in Chicago, then went on to producing his own show. In May 1989, Flatley set a Guinness Book world record for tapping speed at 28 taps per second; he broke his own record in February 1998, by achieving 35 taps per second. The current record holder is Michael Donnellan, at 40 taps per second. The dancer also received Guinness Book recognition in both 1999 and 2000 for being the highest paid dancer, earning $1,600,000 per week and for having the highest insurance premium placed on a dancer’s legs at $40,000,000. Lord of the Dance performed a record-breaking run of 21 shows at the legendary Wembley Arena in London in 1998. In 2004 Flatley received an honorary doctorate degree from University College Dublin and that same year received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor in New York On the 3rd June 2007 The Freedom of the City of Cork was conferred on the entertainer at a ceremony in Cork’s City Hall. In 2008, he was conferred with the Freedom of the Borough of Sligo at a ceremony in Sligo City Hall. In 2008 the Variety Club of Ireland presented Flatley with their Entertainer of the Decade Award.
